Visit Willie Neslon's Hometown

When you come to visit the Texas Musicians Museum, be sure to take the time to visit Willie Nelson's hometown of Abbott, Texas, just 8 miles south of Hillsboro and 1 mile east of I-35.

Abbott Grocery

Visit Willie's Abbott Cash Grocery & Market, the actual store that Willie used to visit when he was a youngster.  When you go in, you will be greeted by Major, who is one of the nicest store clerks in Texas.  You can also purchase out of print Willie Nelson t-shirts from all sorts of different concerts and events. While you are there, have Major hook you up with one of his delicious old style sandwiches.

Another great way to enjoy this quaint town is to attend services at Willie's church every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 10:30 am.  The church has no dress code and everyone is invited.  You may even see Willie at the church when he is in town.  It is a real delight to hear Willie and his sister Bobbie sing gospel songs during services.  Afterward, you can go next door to the store and get a sandwich and that hard to find Willie Nelson t-shirt.  Every dollar spent at the store helps to keep the store and the church operating and provides scholarship money to local Abbott high school students.
